Helen lives to enjoy and create beautiful things!
Hello there!
I’m Helen, the face behind Love from Helen. I spend most of my days working with children and young people, and my evenings and spare time creating jewellery or crocheting in my tiny home ‘studio’ in South Devon.
For as long as I can remember I have had a love for being creative and all things colour - it started with dying my hair different colours and eventually progressed to paper and other media, although my hair has stayed colourful.
Creating is a journey of exploration and expression. It allows me to harness imagination and transform ideas into tangible forms. Whether it's crafting a piece of art, crocheting a pair of gloves, mixing polymer clay, or baking a cake, the act of creation fosters a sense of accomplishment and joy.
I taught myself to crochet during lockdown as a way to keep my hands and mind busy during a difficult time and it’s safe to say that I was hooked! I love seeing how simple hand movements with some yarn in your hands can turn into something unique and beautiful.
Crafting jewellery is an art that combines creativity, precision, and passion. I’m often inspired by a printed image, a scrap of fabric or wallpaper or shapes and patterns in the environment. It often starts with a design idea or a certain colour combination and then I begin making, seeing if I can make my initial thought into something you can hold! I like playing with other mediums like mica powders, stencils, silk screens and paint.
